Chi-Town Shakti

Yoga + Meditation

Above all, please respect the studio as a sacred space. This is both for your benefit and the benefit of others.

Be early to class. If you are new to the center, please arrive at least 15 minutes early to sign in and register.
No cell phones are permitted anywhere in the studio space.
If you have a health issue (pregnancy, illness, injury or medical condition), please notify your instructor before class. Not every pose is appropriate for everyone.
We offer the option of hands-on adjustments in class in an effort to assist with alignment, enhance relaxation, or to help you explore possibilities in a pose, but we are always happy to work with you hands-free. We will ask permission before adjusting hands-on, but you are also welcome to inform your instructor of your preference before class.
Please stay for the entire class.
Come to practice with an empty stomach (unless a specific condition prevents this).
Try letting go of the competitive mindset. Yoga is noncompetitive. The purpose of yoga is more than just a workout or techniques for relaxation. It calms the mind, opens the heart, and ignites your spiritual evolution.
Attend your correct class level to ensure your comfort and that of other students.
  • We offer yoga mats and props free of charge for your use during class. You are welcome to bring your own mat and props if you prefer.
Teens ages 14 and up are always welcome in any of our Yoga classes.

Finally, most classes finish with a gesture of hands in prayer while saying “Namaste”. Namaste means: I honor the place in you which is of love, of truth, of light and of peace. When you are in that place in you and I am in that place in me, we are one. Namaste!
