Level 1, 200 Hour Certification


The level 1 training provides a comprehensive foundation for teaching a beginning level yoga class. Thoroughly prepare yourself to safely teach an array of classical yoga asanas and pranayama. 200 hours. Early registration is highly advised, we admit only 7 participants into any given training.

2009 Three-Month Extended Learning Programs:
The three month program allows working yogis to keep their day jobs as they study yoga in an in-depth and meaningful way.


Winter Session - January 10 - April 4 (February 23 - March 1 off as a break.)

There are 19 remaining flexible hours which will be spent in faculty mentor observation and assistance.

One-Month Immersion Programs:
The one month program is four weeks spent as a full time yogi. You will have the experience of getting a close up look at the yogic life and all the depth of experience that follows.

Curriculum Overview: Based on The Yoga Alliance Requirements
100 Hours:
Techniques Training/Practice
—Includes asanas, pranayamas, kriyas, chanting, mantra, meditation, and other traditional yoga techniques. These hours must be a
mix between (1) analytical training in how to teach and practice the techniques, and (2) guided practice of the techniques themselves; both areas must receive substantial emphasis.

25 Hours:
Teaching Methodology
—Includes principles of demonstration, observation, assisting/correcting, instruction, teaching styles, qualities of a teacher, the student's process of learning, and business aspects of teaching yoga.

20 Hours:
Anatomy & Physiology
—Includes both human physical anatomy and physiology (bodily systems, organs, etc.) and energy anatomy and physiology (chakras,
nadis, etc.). Includes both the study of the subject and application of its principles to yoga practice (benefits, contraindications, healthy movement patterns, etc).

30 Hours:
Yoga Philosophy/Lifestyle and Ethics for Yoga Teachers
—Includes the study of yoga philosophies, yoga lifestyle, and ethics for yoga teachers.

10 Hours:
Practicum
—Includes practice teaching, receiving feedback, observing others teaching and hearing/giving feedback. Also includes assisting students while
someone else is teaching.

15 Hours:
