Guru Gita
You
may recognize the practice lovingly referred to as "the
geet" in the book Eat Pray Love! Students in the Shambhava
tradition do this practice each morning around sunrise. The
Guru Gita is a 182 verse chant in the form of a
conversation between Shiva and his consort Parvati. Parvati
asks Shiva how one goes about becoming Enlightened, already
an Enlightened being Parvati asks for the benefit of all
beings. The verses that follow are Shiva's directions along
the path of Enlightenment. The practice is beautiful and
enriching. You are welcome to join in, simply listen or
read along in the Sanskrit or the English transliteration.
However you choose to participate all are welcome!
Ganesh Puja
It
is considered auspicious to do a puja or devotional
practice to the popular Hindu deity Ganesh (the elephant
headed deity) at the beginning of any new venture or in
order to remove obstacles. Puja is a devotional practice of
cleansing, offerings, pranayama and meditation techniques
in order to receive the benefit of a particular deity or
energy. In this Ganesh workshop we'll be removing obstacles
and clearing the path for something new to come into your
life.
