This 90 minute virtual workshop is designed to uncover the hidden resources ("gems") that already exist within you. Participants will start with a guided writing exercise, during which they will be invited to briefly share their observations with the rest of the group. From there, Stephanie will lead a gentle yoga warm up designed to ground participants in the present moment. Finally, participants will choose a posture or movement of their own to share with the group to connect their experience during the written exercise to the embodiment of their emotions. The workshop will conclude with a cool down, savasana, and brief "check-out."
You'll need:
* A pen and paper
* A microphone and speakers; a camera is preferable but not required
* Willingness to share your reflections with other participants
* Commitment to practice letting go of judgment and ahimsa (non-harming) for the duration of the workshop
Some prior experience with yoga (asana) will be helpful, but is not mandatory.
The number of participants will be limited in order to facilitate a sense of safety and allow enough time to share within the group.
BIO:
Stephanie is a RYT-200 trained at Chi-Town Shakti, as well as a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with a private psychotherapy practice. While she initially sought yoga as a form of expression through movement, Stephanie noticed a wide variety of benefits from spending time on the mat. It became increasingly apparent that concepts from the 8 limbs of yoga could be integrated into therapy to help people find healing and relief from trauma, substance use disorders, and other life challenges. In 2020, Stephanie completed a "Yoga For Trauma" training certificate through The Center for Yoga and Trauma Recovery.
